I drew a beetle.

His name shall be Steve.

More? More.

More!

These are fun, but I think I feel like doing an environment next.

Easter laziness resolved!

Getting back to it between classes, just a couple of studies. Trying something I saw in one of James Gurney's books, to simplify to just black & white (yellowish). Since I enjoyed these, expect more later when I'm looking for something to do instead of Color Theory.

I bought a couple of water brush pens to do some traditional versions of these with ink in my sketchbooks. Halfway just to start prepping for Illustration 1. That's right, three months in advance. Watch yourselves.

Edit: This would be the exercise I was mentioning. Apparently I'm cheating, oops.

Hellish day, but got things done.

Just a quick study today, and a quick painting I was working on a while back as just a sketch.

Paper knocked out, glad to have that off of my shoulders. I may not be staying COMPLETELY true to my 1 work/day, but I'm damn close, and it's doing me tons of good. Psyched for my portfolio review, gonna rattle the cages a little bit. I almost was preparing for the idea of walking out due to the apparent hate of sketchbook work, but I was informed that as long as you speak about how it's relevant, all will go well.

Updated with a study of Clint Eastwood for kicks.

Let's learn!

Because this class isn't teaching me shit.

They took more notes, I did more useful things.

Let's learn InDesign! Oh, wait, it's just a shitty Illustrator.

More work in the midst of more work..

I hate color-aid, however, I hate color-aid less than gouache. But I certainly don't hate environment studies.

They took notes, I did useful things..

Fight Club, great movie. Anyway, fuck you, digital foundations. EDIT: Levels were awful after looking at it in proper lighting.. fixed.

Reflections, man.

Updated it a little bit, fixed the reflected light, sharpened it a bit.

Bet you all thought this was gonna be some deep, emotional post. Haha, suckers. Fun study of some sweet medieval body armor.

In other news, color theory is letting me pick colors accurately much easier, does this mean I have to be glad I took the class? Damnit. Supposed to get my schedule for Fall '11 semester today; if I don't get Life Drawing, heads will roll. That being said, I have a pretty good shot at it. Also I give "Wasting Light" rock album of the year, and I'm not even a huge Foo Fighters fan. They're amazing when they're good, and boring when they're anything less. Believe me, they're amazing.

One for the price of more?

This one took a while, but I put a lot more into it. I still need to do his tattoos and detail the gun. So I'll probably count this as two studies (I'd like to say three, but then I just sound lazy to myself..)

In other news, the new Foo Fighters album "Wasting Light" is now streaming on their website in amazing quality. It's fucking amazing; easily their best album in a while. Check it out.

D'oh. Also, Alan Lee Illustrations.

I have some of the legendary weekend procrastination going on. Video games claimed my life for far too long today. Fear not! I'll make up for it later today with two incredibly amazing posts later. In the meantime, here's some art. Some Alan Lee, perhaps?
