Color Sketches

Riffing on a theme of "Frozen Pass".  Mostly experimenting with what colors I can use for snow and working towards a final.  There's a few more to do on this one, but wanted to put 'em up before Christmas stuff got me busy.

Still going..

Thumbing for something to take to final.  Did a quick self portrait for like an hour.  (with monitor lighting obviously) to break up some of the monotony that thumbing can sometimes bring.  Barely addressed the hair since I didn't want to render my greasy need-to-shower hair, lol. Pushed the bottom one a little bit but it wasn't working for me.

And some quick stuff from life.  Only could spend like 30 minutes per plein air before my hands started screaming at me from the cold, so they're rather quick.

Collabodraw

Just trying to participate in the Collabodraw again!  Was getting kind of dead, and we can't have that!  That, and trying to do more imaginative work in general.  Not super happy with the skin tones, feel like they're boring.  It was fun, but as always, it shows what I need to keep working on.

Messing Around

Just practicing drawing heads and doing some gestures along with it.  Also playing around with going from greyscale to color with increasing amounts of success.  Yay success!

Saw Prometheus last night (had no idea it was an Aliens prequel until the end of the movie, herfa durp) and really liked some of the scenes, so wanted to do a study.  Working on values, so.. value study!

Just doing some random 30~ min comps.  Doing these faster has its entertainment value, but even these are showing me that I need to slow down, think more, paint less, and move ahead with solidified plans to go towards finished work.

Desert Colors Are Cool.

So much orange.  Channeled some Prince of Egypt backgrounds for this one with some Moran-ish for colors.  Have you guys seen PoE's backgrounds?  They're fucking great.  Go Google them.

Things of the day so far~

I like skulls.  All these skulls have been around 30 minutes;  I'm trying to speed up a bit.  The skull I have's bone to go to the zygomatic arch is broken, so it looks wonky here, BUT THAT'S HOW IT IS.

 Just a figure doodle to get back into doing random characters and figuring out pose/anatomy.

More to come later, art walk tonight.

Monitor, Monitor?

Waiting on my IPS-Panel monitor to get here for some fucking proper color work.  I got impatient and really wanted to paint with the new rig, so I did a quick photo-study.  Let's see how wack the colors are on my tablet..  :|

I'm moving and still working, so I can't -just- work :(.  Still having fun with color/light changes, but good god I need to not go into so much detail for these.
