So, my computer's fucked. Some parts decided to fry in the hour I was away from it. Oh well, it was on its last legs anyway. Hopefully I can grab a few parts together to keep it going; I'm not going to bring much over to the next one I build. Anyway, this means that my updates will be a bit slow until I get things going again.
Aside from that, I've been trying to refine my process and work on studying things "better". Paying more attention to subtleties, form instead of shape, colors, etc. In addition to that, having a piece from an artist I like around to reference their techniques.
Before trying to change things:
I'm not unhappy with this study, as the color is pretty good. But I got way too caught up trying to copy what I saw.
After:
I really want to do more like this and experiment with things. There's obvious improvement here, so I don't want to let it sit. Still, there are things I could fix to make the image better or more interesting, despite maybe not being true to the reference. More atmosphere, contrast, stuff like that. Otherwise, just spending time in my sketchbook working on construction and perspective. Staying busy!
Really sorry to hear about your pc, man. I had a similar experience with my HDD going berserk and subsequently frying my graphics card and the motherboard, and all that just when I got all the super secret resources from /ic/ lol. Let me know if you're missing something.
ReplyDeleteIf it's not too much trouble, could you elaborate your process regarding technical stuff in your next posts ? I'd really love to hear some in depth insights on digital seeing how you're on the right track and as you progress, I'll try to do the same with everything else I do.
