Week one with Scott Eaton! Bone names an surface landmarks. Super interesting stuff, for sure! Green-lined one is my most recent refresher.

A Serene Encounter.
Value exercise turned finished painting. Had some fuuuun here, particularly satisfied with the mood. I'll start uploading my anatomy homework here too, so be prepared!

Oh yeah, Collabodraw!
Greetings peeps. I forgot to post about me participating in some collaborative illustration goodness with my illustration pals n' peers Clare Caldwell and John Lee, along with others. Basically, it's a blog of nothing but sketch responses to prior sketches, which makes for a lot of fun and interesting directions. Check out where we are with things here!
Here's my sketch that I've contributed so far:

Waiting..
I know there haven't been updates in forever, but I'm still working. Just traditionally largely. I'm waiting on access to a scanner (which should be soon) to do a mass-update. Just keeping followers in the know.
Here's a couple digital things I've done recently, when I really need a break from greyscale and the sketchbook. Also, I'm now (finally) on tumblr, pinterest, and twitter. Social media, hooo!

Welp
So, my computer's fucked. Some parts decided to fry in the hour I was away from it. Oh well, it was on its last legs anyway. Hopefully I can grab a few parts together to keep it going; I'm not going to bring much over to the next one I build. Anyway, this means that my updates will be a bit slow until I get things going again.
Aside from that, I've been trying to refine my process and work on studying things "better". Paying more attention to subtleties, form instead of shape, colors, etc. In addition to that, having a piece from an artist I like around to reference their techniques.
Before trying to change things:

I'm not unhappy with this study, as the color is pretty good. But I got way too caught up trying to copy what I saw.
After:
I really want to do more like this and experiment with things. There's obvious improvement here, so I don't want to let it sit. Still, there are things I could fix to make the image better or more interesting, despite maybe not being true to the reference. More atmosphere, contrast, stuff like that. Otherwise, just spending time in my sketchbook working on construction and perspective. Staying busy!

Sketches n' stuff.
Not a whole lot to say, just still messing around with custom shapes to see what they can do. Smudge tool works well with them to make some interesting shapes. Need to do more landscape/architecture studies to supplement these though. Also, self-portrait Sunday!
Edit: Apparently I didn't upload last week's SP Sunday stuff. Oops.
